hey peeps ... i'm pretty excited about the new band featuring jazz pianist, multi-instrumentalist, arranger Jordan Carls ... and blues guitarist, singer/songwriter Josh Kenning.
new materials with a bluesy-jazzy feel!
sometimes i think we are nuts ... musicians/performers, that is ... but maybe all of us! i love singing, love performing, love surprising a roomful of skeptics with a pleasing presentation of a song. but what we musicians do is so often taken for granted. i'm 45+ and i've spent my life listening, learning, rehearsing, playing with other musicians, buying equipment and doing it all over again for the glory of a 3-5 minute song. i wish i could view this profession as a hobby so that i could get a 'real' job and support myself ... but i can't. everytime i've tried to run away from my profession ... it haunts me, consumes me, compels me, lures me until i've no choice but to succumb to its siren song.
so i play for pennies and hope someone will buy a CD. and i take on too many 'real' part-time jobs so that i can keep pursuing my profession and hope someone will buy my CD. i get asked to volunteer for this or that because i'm a good organizer or a slightly public figure in our local fishbowl [...]
